Are You Feeling Negative?

What none of us need is negativity.

Well, 2020 has dished up a lot of negativity. So don’t feel that you’re alone if you are feeling anxious, depressed or lonely.

For once we are all in the same boat. With the current state of the world, it is hard not to worry.

As with all situations in life, you have two options you can let it get you down, or you can rise above it. Some worry is healthy. Too much worry, however, can cripple you, meaning you are unable to move forward.

If you listen to the news, they paint a negative picture, but in reality, times like this creates a wealth of opportunity.

But you need to be prepared.

There is a famous saying; Luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Now is the time to get prepared, and preparation starts with knowing the truth.

Truth then leads to faith.

We all have gifts and abilities that few of us use. The main reason for this is that many of our gifts we take for granted, or we dismiss them, thinking they’re not relevant.

An example, listening. You may not believe that listening is a talent, but it is a great gift. Expertise that many will need after this pandemic. Now I’m not writing today to tell you to change jobs or get more education. I’m here to open your mind up to new thoughts, to help you think more clearly.

There is so much fear around at the moment that its hard to avoid it, everywhere you go there are people trying to make sense of it all. Many are trying to come up with their own reasons.

The questions are endless…

The answers to most of them; no one knows or will ever know.

There is so much that we can worry about: work, relationships, money, health . . . but instead of panicking over what could happen, why not choose a different path?

A path of faith.

One where you let go of worry and focus on getting the most out of life. As I mentioned in previous posts, taking exercise, healthy eating, and using effective ways to relieve stress.

No matter what you have to face when you have a healthy body and mind, you are more than prepared to overcome it.

Over the last few months being at home, many of us have got out of shape, added with anxiety, stress and tension our bodies need some attention.

So I welcome you to feed your mind this weekend with content that builds you up and avoid anything that tears you down— into feelings of worry and doubt. Its good to stay informed but equally essential to look after your mental, physical and emotional health.

Take a walk or run, and connect with mother nature. Have a detox from all media and feed your mind, body, and faith with nourishment for the next few days, and notice the difference it makes.

Until the next time, take care.

Do You Really Want To Return To The Carnival Of Sin?

NORMAL

People are so desperate to return to quote on quote, normal.

What is that exactly?

Our heads in the sand, avoiding what is happening in our world?

The destruction of rain forests. The endless dramas that get more and more violent and sexual as the years go on? There is nothing wrong with sex its a natural part of a loving relationship, but nowadays losing your phone is a bigger deal than losing your virginity. Children as young as 12 are reportedly watching pornography on their smartphones.

In my opinion, we as a species are not evolving; we are de-evolving back to the material part of ourselves.

Jesus referred to this as sin.

The divide between the spiritual and material world is getting bigger and bigger. And if you mention it in conversation, most peoples response, “this is just the way things are now, stop living in the stone age.”

Really?

Is the world better now with no morals? Where you can become a celebrity simply by sleeping with someone? Where most children are brought up in broken homes leading to social and mental problems?

Am I missing something?

As the week’s role on, and this lockdown continues, the clearer and clearer I see— this world needed this virus to halt the madness.

Hopefully, it stays long enough, so people wake up from their materialistic slumber, and put a stop to their endless consumerism.

And most importantly a Return To Their Faith.

Never, in as long as I can remember, have I heard so many people mention God on the TV. Maybe the next step will be trusting Him; realising that right from the days of Moses; there has been plagues, war, and death.

Far worse than it is today.

And guess what?

The human spirit got stronger and lived on.

What makes people think now is any different?

The world needs to realise that God is in control. That nature has been pushed to the edge, and if we don’t change our ways, soon,

A war with nature is coming, and sadly there will be only one winner.

The real worry for people should not be this virus, humans have survived a lot, lot worse, the real concern is that we return to the carnival of sin.

What can I do, I feel fearful?

Turn off the news. One.

Two. Connect with nature. Reading the Word of God daily, immerse your mind with positivity.

Three. Limit your time with the people that are negative.

Enjoy your weekend.

Thanks for reading.

Do You Feel Like You’re Walking in Circles?

walking in circles

A Biologist experimented with what he called ‘processional caterpillars’. He lined up caterpillars on the rim of a pot that held a plant so that the lead caterpillar was head to tail with the last caterpillar, with no breaks in the parade.

The tiny creatures walked around the rim of the pot for a full week before they died of exhaustion and starvation. Not once did any of them break out of line and venture over to the plant to eat.

Food was only inches away, but their follow-the-crowd-instinct was stronger than the drive to eat and survive.

The same thing happened to an entire generation of Israelites. They walked in circles in the wilderness for 40 years, even though they were only 11 miles from the promise land.

If you’re in a rut today, ask yourself these three questions:

Is this rut of my own making?

We choose a rut because it’s comfortable and requires no risk. And getting out of it requires courage and a willingness to make tough choices you follow through on.

Who am I following?

We adopt certain patterns because someone has taught them to us directly, or by example. Instead of mindlessly following the crowd, seek God’s will for your life and commit yourself to doing it.

Where am I going?

The Bible says, ‘Where there is no vision, the people perish’ (Proverbs 29: 18 KJV).

If you want to get out of the rut, you’re in today, ask God to give you a vision for your life — He will. And when he does, Pour yourself into it. Begin 2020 on the right foot.

Feeling Worried?

DI 007

When our thoughts are lost in worry in can be helpful to focus our mind on something else. Prayer is an excellent solution as it focuses our mind on God.

It focuses our mind on all the times that things worked out for the best.

It can be hard when your in the grips of worry to think about anything else but this is exactly when  you will feel the biggest benefit.

Why You Never Have Enough Time

nor enough time

Do you ever feel like you haven’t got enough time? Like you’re rushing from one thing to the next.

Do you want to know the reason why you’re always late for things?

Well, you’re not alone, most humans are terrible at planning and poor judges of how long things will take.

If you get a text that says, “be there in two minutes,” that usually means 10. If they say, “running 15 minutes late,” that means 30.

Now obviously this is your friend trying to soften the blow, and potentially saving face, but why were they running late in the first place?

Well, a high proportion of people don’t plan for the unplannable.

As a person that was always late, I now know why I was. In my head, it only takes 5 minutes to get my coat, wallet and keys. But in reality, it takes me 15; my keys are not where I thought I left them, or anywhere for that matter.

keys

I start to stress, and stress leads me not to think clearly. Then I remember that I left my keys in my other jacket.

I jump into the car and traffic seems to pop out of nowhere, I pull in and text a friend and let them know I’m going to be late. The reply, “it’s ok; you always are.”

The takeaway from all this, plan for the unexpected. If you have to be at an appointment at 11 am, and it usually takes you 15 minutes to get there. Don’t leave at 10:45 am.

Plan to leave at 10:15. Then if you have misplaced your keys, wallet, or another item that is essential to your trip you have plenty of time to look for it.

Unexpected things will come up, and it’s better to be ready for them. Allowing that 30 minutes extra is often essential if you want to be there on time.

That is what my experience has taught me.

You think it will be like X, but in reality, it’s like Y. There will be things that you didn’t plan for. And that’s precisely why you need to prepare for them events. Most people don’t.

That’s why you should not take on every engagement, project or task that you think you can do. Problems will arise and giving yourself space for them problems limits stress and rushing.

Will they always happen, of course not but it’s better to be ready than for one little problem to snowball into you being late for the remainder of the day, or in some cases much longer.

buffer

Buffer time is something that has helped me a lot in my personal and work life. The time that I add to remove stress and frustration from my day. (The mind works so much more efficiently when it is calm and relaxed.)

For one, travel always takes longer than you think, so getting to the airport an hour early, and to our business engagement 15 minutes early removes a lot of stress.

The risk of missing your flight, making your friends wait, or losing a reservation isn’t worth a few minutes it takes to plan. The worst-case scenario is that you wait a few minutes when you get there.

And if a friend, work colleague, or Google maps tells you it’s going to take 20 minutes to get there, and you leave 20 minutes for your journey, you’re probably going to be late.

You’re going to hit a few red lights, some traffic, and then have to park your car and walk to the restaurant, and there is always that person or persons, at the airport, that pack all their liquids into their carry on case.

The point is there is always going to be things that you can’t plan for, that will come up.

yes no

Also, when you say YES too often, it limits the amount of time that you have for yourself.

I’m all for helping people but if you help everyone someone is going to lose, and that person will be you.

The reason, you’re not going to have any buffer time. You’re going to be so busy wrapped up and helping others you’ll put your needs to last, leading to being stressed and frustrated that you never seem to have time for yourself.

That’s why you need to plan.

Plan everything that you would like to do; the things that are essential for your health and well-being. Then with a time that’s left allocate as your free time, as the time that you can give freely.

Summary
The idea here is— it’s not just about being late; it’s about the things that you say yes to. It’s about better planning. So if meeting a friend for lunch means that you are going to be rushing to an appointment or meeting. Then avoid it.

Let your friend know why you can’t meet them, why you have to put it off until another time. A good friend will see your point of view and agree with your decision.

Most of us are in debt when it comes to time.

But when you are selective about allocating your time, when you think twice before saying yes. You will start to feel much less rushed, you will begin to feel more relaxed, and you will have much more time for the essential things that make you happy.

Have a good week.

Stop

Cartoon-stopI find it almost impossible to STOP; while others seem to take relaxation in their stride.

My mind is always racing with ideas, all the things that I convince myself, I must do. All this added pressure doesn’t help. I want to do so much but have so little time.

Im sure I am not on my own.

The only solution that I can come up with is allocating time to rest. Just time each week that you turn everything off and unplug from the world. Phone off. Laptop off. Take time just to be.

I visit certain people who live a relaxed lifestyle, just being in their presence I feel a calmness within my soul.

It is in this calmness that most of my ideas, wisdom and mental clarity happen, so why do I not spend more time there?

In these moments I see the world so beautifully, then I’m off on the road again.

In this busy world, we need to make conscious effort to slow down. If we don’t— the stress and pressure can build up to illness and pain; the body can only take so much.

Our bodies slowly break down.

I regularly have sore backs, sore throats but rather than Stop; I carry on. My body is giving me messages, but I refuse to listen.

Waking this morning, I didn’t feel good at all. This idea, STOP, shouted louder than anything else, so I decided to write it down. Maybe its time I stuck this up on the wall as a reminder that if I don’t slow down, I will STOP.

I’m beginning to realize that I need to take time for myself each week. I can’t reply to every message or email, and even when I do the tiredness distorts my judgment.

When you are at full strength, only then can you give others the energy that they deserve, and need.

thank you for reading and have a good day.
