Could the Second Coming be Digital?

It says in the Bible, knowledge is sorrow, and this is very true. The more you know about what is happening in the world the more sorrow you will feel. Human greed for money and power is destroying the earth right before our eyes.

Yet we remain powerless.

Man likes to think he can outplay God, but we have written records down through history showing that this is not the case. Would it not be a masterstroke for God to create something that cannot be stopped, that cannot be silenced, that cannot be killed.

In this digital age could it be technology that comes to our rescue?

This is an idea that flashed into my head this morning so I thought I would sit down and see what would flow out.

Technology gets such a bad rap, from so many people, afraid that only bad things can come from AI. Artificial intelligence.

But maybe this is not the case.

Maybe AI could save us from ourselves.

Now it may not be Artificial intelligence, it maybe an evolved internet that allows us to distribute the wealth of the world more evenly, that allows me, for example, to buy coffee beans directly from a South American coffee farmer. With no need for a middle man.

Digitally I can paid him for the product plus post and packaging. Which would mean I get a high quality product, and he can have a better standard of living.

This may seem impossible but it’s only 20 years ago when it took a half a day to upload a single high resolution photo to the Internet.

Just some thoughts I though I would share.

Are You Feeling Dis-connected?

You may have noticed that if people come around to your house, the first thing they do is ask for your WIFI password.

We like to stay connected.

Nowadays, if you haven’t got an internet connection, you are unable to get your emails, notifications, and will have no access to Google.

After one day you will not have missed much, after a week you could have missed some important emails. After a month in some instants, you may have lost your job, or at the very minimum some customers or clients.

The internet is a good analogy for what I’m going to share today because it gets everyone on the same page.

We all know what a month without the internet could potentially do to our lives.

What if our connection to nature is just as important?

The picture below I took about a 35 minute drive from my home, and until last weekend I didn’t know it existed.

In that place, I felt a power that I have not felt in a long time—the feeling of just how insignificant I am in the grand scheme of things. Our egos like to make us think that we are all-powerful, like, it’s up to us to heal the world, to save the planet.

At this time of global unrest and uncertainty, we all crave peace of mind, for everything, too go back to “normal.’ Well, a quantum leap in that direction is to connect with nature again and start to download all the updates that you have missed.

Visit a local landmark, or drive to the closest beach, and re-connect to the only connection you will ever need.

The Fastest Road to Happiness

The fastest road to happiness is a road we would all like to travel.

If there is such a road, why do we not travel it more often?

Good question.

Life can have so many distractions, add on top of that the amount of fear and uncertainty around at the moment, and it’s easy to understand why people may think happiness is a step too far.

Well, in my experience, happiness is never too far away.

Many people say that I must have been blessed with happiness, I say blessed because I’m happy most of the time. And if I were to put into words why. Why I’m happy most of the time, I would have to say it is because I put others in front of myself. I pick up on peoples gifts and talents and then let them know, through praise and acknowledgement.

Sounds too easy, right?

Attaining happiness can’t be that easy. Can it? A few simple words to a stranger?

Well, put it into action yourself. The next time you have a good meal, send a message to the chef. Walk by a painter painting a sign, highlight his/her skills. Taxi driver leaves you off compliment there driving.

These are the little moments that don’t take much time, but they add so much value to others, and in the process, they make you happy.

As it says in the good book, give, and you shall receive. So give compliments, encouragement, and praise everywhere you go this weekend and see how much happiness you receive.

Be the voice of hope you want to hear.

A Change is a Good as a Rest

No matter who you are or where you are reading this from there is a good chance that you would benefit from a nice rest, whether that be lying on a beach, or a holiday adventure.

2020 has been a difficult year for all.

Yesterday I decided if I couldn’t have the resting holiday that I know my spirit needs I would have a change. Deciding to change around my living space..

Waking up this morning was like being in a new place. The light was different, I heard the outside noises in a different way. Rather than just getting ready on auto pilot I had to think about where I had put certain items, as most things had a new home.

My whole morning was a refreshing change that has helped me greatly, and thought was worth mentioning. As any kind of change gets the mind to process information in a different way.

The Benefit of Being Sick

When we are healthy, we often have so much to do, which leads to so much to worry about.

But when we are sick, the roof could be falling in, and it wouldn’t matter. Why is that?

Why is it that when we are sick, the only thought on our minds is getting better again, but when we are healthy, the weight of the world seems to be on our shoulders?

It is a tricky question and not easy to answer, but one reason could be, when we are sick, we realise that our health is all that matters.

im sure you’ve all had a moment when you were not well with a bug or infection when your only prayer was, “Please God, all I want is to be healthy again.”

We all can have aches and pains, but they are not sickness.

Sickness is them moments when we realise just how fragile life is, why is it that it’s only in these moments that we appreciate the gift of life?

Introduce your Higher Self to your Ego

During the lockdown, I got into some bad habits and put on a fair bit of weight, that I’m finding it hard to lose.

Just don’t have the same motivation to get out of the house in the mornings for my usual run. Three times a week has dropped to one every ten days, managed to go yesterday, as it was beautiful weather.

On my run, I had a thought, pretty deep stuff, as my brother would say but will do my best to keep it simple.

Ego Meets Self

Well, on my run, there is a very steep hill about a mile in, that although challenging I can make it. As I was approaching the hill, I saw a farmer in his land who gave me a particular look. As if to say, you’re not going to run up that hill? (Well that’s what the ego part of me heard, more on that later.)

As I started up the hill, in my mind, he was watching me. With that added pressure, the hill wasn’t as easy as usual. The sun in the sky suddenly felt warmer.

A car came from behind me, which meant I had to run on the loose gravel on the verge of the road, which made the climb even harder. Although difficult, I did not stop.

At the top of the hill, it flattened out, and slowly but surely I got up to speed, again.

Then the thought hit me, for that run up the hill I had been separated from my spiritual self. I was thinking about proving to the farmer that I could make it up the hill, that it wasn’t impossible to run.

I also became aware of the fact that he may not have been thinking about me at all. How often do we allow what we think others will think of us to determine what we say or do?

I can only speak for myself, but I do it a lot.Ā

I believe that there are two parts of us:

The spirit is the part of us that is without fear and curious about life. Most people lose connection to this part of themselves by about 8-9.

The reason for this is, at about that time, we form a second part to ourselves, the ego. I’m sure you have heard that expression.

That’s the part of us that suddenly cares what others think. So we make sure we dress the same as everyone else, have the same trainers, school bag, and clothes. We do whatever is necessary, so we don’t stand out.Ā

Just the presence of the farmer had disconnected me from enjoying my run, meaning; I got lost in over-thinking and over analysing my performance, which in turn made the run much harder.

It was interesting to witness how the ego had changed my feelings and emotions.

Like it or not feelings and emotions are what rule our life. We tend always to be moving towards what is pleasurable and away from what is painful. Doing whatever it takes to avoid being judged or criticised.

The ego part of us wants to be continuously praised and complimented. Continually analysing and overthinking everything.

As I wrote in the headline, “I had introduced my higher self to my ego.” And the higher self said to me. “Do you want fearful part of you in your life anymore?”

Do we need that part of us that is always judging ourselves and others, that is in constant fear of being judged or criticised. I don’t think we do. I think it limits us in so many ways.

Many of us never fulfil our true potential because we always have one eye on the people in our lives, the people that are so afraid to step outside their comfort zone that they will make fun of anyone else that does.

Strenght in you reflects the weaknesses within them.

Growing up, the ego is needed to help build our identity and keep us safe from harm. Its the person we become so other people will like us, admire us, and accept us. But at some point, we have to live our life on our terms. Making decisions for ourselves not solely to impress others and make them accept us.

So many people let the fear of being judged or criticised stop them from fulfilling their destiny.

Please don’t be afraid to walk your own path and follow your dreams.

Thanks for reading.

For those that don’t see a silver lining…

At the moment, there are dark clouds overhead, and if you look around, you will notice that everyone is staring straight up at them.

And, if you’re not careful, you will start to do the same.

Yes, the sky is dark, but don’t follow everyone else, be one of the people that search’s the sky for that gap in the clouds. Sometimes the simple act of looking instils faith.

The moment that the gap appears only the ones that are looking will find it. That ray of light reminding you that behind the clouds is a clear blue sky.

It never went away, but its absence fooled everyone that it was gone.

If you look back through the last 100 years, there have been some very dark times in our history, but the darkness past and the sun shined again.

Until the sky clears the best that we can do is be the sunshine to all the people in our lives, and pray the dark clouds quickly drift from view.

God & Time

As a society, we have become fixed on time. We get up at a certain time, eat at certain times, and go to bed at a certain time.

Schedules are helpful to navigate our lives.

The problem arises when we think that we can put God on a schedule when we believe that he will keep our life happy all the time. As you know, this is not the case.

After many years of plenty, there are often a few years of drought.

In biblical days the people were more spiritual, and the reason for this, in my opinion, was because they didn’t have the thousands of distractions that we have today in our modern world, that connect us to materialism.

And because of this, they were more in touch with nature and those that were highly spiritual, or as we call today, awakened. Could communicate with God.

Countless times throughout the Bible, he was not happy with his people, and on many occasions, the Prophets had to convince him to give humanity another chance.

Well, there is a good chance that at this time, God is not happy with us. And if you know your world news, you will understand why. We are cutting down the Amazon rainforest, the lungs of the planet. We are destroying our water supplies all over the world in the name of fashion. The list is endless, and depressing so I will leave it there.

This is a very fearful time in human history, so if you are afraid you are not alone, I feel that fear as well, every day. But I know that God is in control, and in his timing, the sun will shine again, and this world will be a better place.

It so tempting to search for answers, to search for that one video that tells you what you want to hear, but in that search, you will probably absorb a lot of fear.

The blind cannot lead the blind.

As much as we all want to change the world, the sad truth is, we can only change ourselves.

Be the change you wish to see. Show compassion, empathy and love everywhere you go, and maybe, just maybe, you will plant a seed in some peoples heart so they, in turn, will help others.

This is the way that I live my life.

Are you having a Red Sea moment?

One of the most powerful stories of the old testament, in my opinion, is when the Israelites came to the Red Sea, and Moses held up his staff, and the waters parted.

With current events, that’s where I think we are now.

The Pharaoh, the 600 chariots, and skilled warriors are coming behind us, that could be represented as fear, uncertainty, worry and doubt. Coming from the potential threat of the virus, the global unrest, stories from the news and all peoples opinions on social media.

The parted water is the path into the future, we know all will be ok when we get to the other side, but them walls of water could fall at any time.

Faith is easy in the good times, but it’s the difficult times that test just how strong it is.

I read something on Twitter the other day, it said:

A true atheist knows that nothing ultimately matters and lives a relatively carefree life. A true believer knows that it’s all in God’s hands and lives a relatively carefree life. A lot of agnostics out there. @naval

So very true. A true believer knows that everything is part of God’s plan.

I can imagine that the best way to have crossed the Red Sea would have been to keep your focus on the other side and walk straight ahead with a fixed gaze.

For those that looked up at the walls of water and turned around from time to time to see if the Pharoah and his army was getting closer, I can imagine it was a terrifying experience, that would have made the crossing 100 times more stressful.

Fast-forwarding to today. All the people that are checking the news regularly, reading every social media post about the virus, the protests, and the looting. Im sure it’s a terrifying experience.

For them, the next 6-8months will be 100 times more stressful.

Im not here to say what is right or wrong; if you are reading this, you are old enough to make your own decisions.

But I guarantee you that if you keep your family and friends close and focus on the other side, planning and working towards the future, learning new skills and maintaining your health. You will come out of this crisis a lot stronger and wiser than you were going in.

Have a good day.

Did we all forget…

Waking up this morning, I heard the sound of the rain on my window, and the thought came to me, did we all forget.

The simple things in life, what matters?

When did we all get so wrapped up in a system that made us desire material things? Thinking that we were not good enough unless we wore certain clothes or worked at certain jobs.

When did that happen?

Yes, what is happening at this time is scary, there is so much uncertainty, America, once the greatest country on earth seems to be coming apart at the seams.

In my lifetime, I have never seen so much fear.

But…

In all that darkness, I see hope; people are finally waking up to the fantasy life that has been feed to them their whole lives. People are finally beginning to realise that only the essentials of life matter.

What’s the use of a fancy house, flashy car, 60inch TV if you haven’t got your health. What use are material possessions if you haven’t got a spiritual connection to God to give you the faith that all will be ok.

Let’s start remembering and being thankful for all that we do have.

Start each day with gratitude.

Gratitude is the candlelight that will guide you back into the light.
